Real-life lessons from the CCH Tagetik Inspiration Session
Solvency II regulations evolve regularly, requiring insurance companies to continually adapt their processes to meet new requirements. Therefore, CCH Tagetik’s Solvency II module releases frequent updates. But staying compliant isn’t just about software updates; it’s about navigating the complexities of these changes. Discover how effective support makes it easier to stay on track and meet regulatory deadlines without stress.
Selecting a new EPM system as a long-term investment
“As your company evolves, your applications need to evolve too,” Wietse Mol, one of Swap Support’s founders, said in the introduction of the Inspiration Session. “That’s why we support our customers in a long-term, DevOps-like way. We do this as a flexible extension of your team. When you move to a new technology, that’s one of the moments where you need that extra guidance. Because choosing the right tool is crucial. It’s a long-term investment, and it has to fit your company and situation.”
"Hearing from other companies about how a tool works in practice is where the real value lies."

Wietse added that that demos are helpful, but don’t tell the whole story. “Hearing from other companies about how a tool works in practice is where the real value lies.” That’s exactly what the session offered: a mix of inspiration, shared experiences, and honest discussions about what it’s like to work with CCH Tagetik.
CCH Tagetik’s role in simplifying compliance
Insurance companies widely use CCH Tagetik for their reporting needs, especially its Solvency II and IFRS 17 modules. With these specialized tools, CCH Tagetik ensures that updates to the Solvency II taxonomy are seamlessly incorporated into your system each year. Regular releases—four per year—keep you on track with the latest regulatory changes, avoiding bottlenecks and making life easier during the crucial end-of-year reporting period.
However, relying solely on software isn’t enough to stay compliant. Effective support is essential to help you interpret and implement these updates quickly and efficiently. Having access to experienced specialists who understand both the functional impact of the regulatory landscape and your reporting needs can save valuable time and reduce the risk of errors.
Why companies consider a change to another EPM system
For most participants, the reason to explore new solutions was clear: end of support for SAP BPC or a growing need for more functionality and ownership within finance. “We want a platform we can manage ourselves,” one participant shared.
Others mentioned resource challenges or broader corporate transitions. One team was moving to a new ERP system and wanted to ensure seamless integration. Another was focused on sustainability reporting and wanted to understand how CCH Tagetik could support ESG data management.
What stood out about CCH Tagetik
Experts from CCH Tagetik shared that for many companies, CCH Tagetik’s appeal lies in its all-in-one platform for consolidation, planning, and reporting: “After all, it’s built for finance teams rather than IT.” “We hear from our clients that they find the platform very user-friendly,” agrees Jamie Fullick, CCH Tagetik specialist at Swap Support.
"I wanted great tools to get value-added information. In the past, I have seen how BI worked. We wanted to get it right the first time and do so quickly - we needed help with that."
Session participant
Many users appreciate the system’s flexibility and strong consolidation engine. A participant shared: “We had been using SAP BPC for years. Switching took some effort, but after a year we wouldn’t go back. The consolidation logic in CCH Tagetik is just more intuitive.”
The system’s integration options also received positive reactions. Several participants are interested in how to use the Analytical Hub for reporting and storing historical data. “It’s easy to combine actuals and budgets and even use it for HR or ESG reporting, without compromising your finance model,” one guest explained. “The possibilities to drill-down into underlying data models help gain insights without cluttering the main model with too many details.”
CCH Tagetik in practice: the lessons learned from experience
One company shared their experiences after moving from SAP BPC to CCH Tagetik. User-friendliness was a common theme in the discussion. “In SAP BPC we needed scripting for almost everything,” they said. “In CCH Tagetik, most logic is standard. You just tick boxes or use dropdowns. It’s much easier to maintain.”
“We learned a lot during implementation,” they continued. “After half a year, our finance team could manage most things independently, instead of relying on IT. That’s empowering.”
The lessons learned from their migration: “You need dedicated people for the implementation. And ensure you reserve time to reconcile historical data. We stored five years of SAP BPC history in CCH Tagetik’s Analytical Hub. That took time but paid off.”
Another common theme in the discussion with the group was ownership. “CCH Tagetik lets us create customized environments for each business unit. They can manage their own setup, while we stay in control at group level. It gives flexibility, but with governance. We call it controlled flexibility.”
Presenting the figures is a third theme that most participants find important. CCH Tagetik’s integration with Power BI and its own dashboarding capabilities were praised. “It brings not just data, but also metadata and user rights, so dashboards immediately understand financial logic. For instance, what’s positive or negative in your P&L.”
Support still matters in the cloud
A recurring topic was SaaS support. Many companies are still on-premise, so the group discussed what support looks like in a cloud environment. “You don’t need to manage servers or updates anymore,” one expert explained. “But functional support remains essential. You still want to protect your data, check release notes, and test new features.”
The discussion also highlighted that cloud systems remain part of the company’s IT landscape. “We still need to make sure integrations work and data is secure,” someone pointed out. “Without data, an EPM platform is just an empty shell.”
Independent Inspiration Sessions with an objective view
As an independent partner, Swap Support helps organizations explore all major vendors, including OneStream, SAP, CCH Tagetik, and Oracle. Each session focuses on sharing insights, not selling software.
This session was about CCH Tagetik, but similar sessions are planned for other platforms. The goal is simple: help finance teams understand what’s possible, so you can make informed choices that fit your organization in the long run.
